Has anyone taken Wellbutrin? If so, any side effects from it? My Dr prescribed it as stop smoking med. ?

I went to the Dr yesterday and I mentioned that I was thinking about quitting smoking. I'm not a heavy smoker. She said that Wellbutrin would probably be the best for me. I always thought of that as mostly an antidepressant. She said that it was made to be an antidepressant and people were just giving up their smoking habits on it so now it's also being used as an anti smoking medicine. I am just wondering what side effects people have had on it and if they have had any when getting off of it. I'm on 150mg once a day, and so far it has just made me NOT hungry. For some reason, if I don't make myself eat, I feel like I could just not eat for days and not be hungry at all. Is it normal for it to be a major appetite suppressant?

i have depression, and at one point of time, the dr put me on that because on the other antidepressant i was on, i lost my sex drive. she also told me that it would help me lose weight and stop smoking. it actually did nothing for me, still no sex drive, no weight lose, and still smoking. hope this helps. good luck.

So what are the withdrawal effects of quitting smoking?

So I have quit smoking for about 3 days now, and I'm getting some weird withdrawal effects. Other than the obvious ones like cravings and eating more, I'm getting really weird ones. For example I just feel like spazzing out every once and a while, and I'm starting to laugh alot more for no apparent reason. I don't feel depressed, I just have this feeling that I've never had before that makes me zone out alot, can anyone else relate?

I can totally relate, I'm trying to quit myself. I had those feelings the first 48 hours, randomly hyperactive and silly. (not my normal personality) From what I've been told we have more nicotene sensitive sensors in the brain than any others, taking that addiction away does cause some weird things to happen when those sensors start acting properly again. It'll even out eventually. I keep about 3 packs of gum with me and chew it like a maniac.
