Well I have been a smoker for at least 3 years now and I've been in and out if trying to quit. My boyfriend and I have recently gotten an E-cigarette. Its much better for me, no toxins and I still get my nicotine fill. How do you use an e-cig?

I bought a used e-cig from a friend of mine, it was in the black regular e-cig plastic pack and came with 2 cartridges, the white battery part and a charger. When do you know if its out of nicotine and instead of buying new cartridges, how do you put new liquid into it if possible? Also when I use it, the brown cartridge part gets pretty hot. Is this normal? It also seems to have a plastic type taste. Is this normal? Thanks!

It's really not normal to have a plastic taste, maybe an aftertaste that's not natural after excessive smoking, but def. not a plasticy taste..

I'd recommend either a) going to a 7-11 and picking up a cheapo one (which I can't say lasted me to long when I got it from them or cvs, but eh, w/e.)

Or you could pick one up online which really topple the store bought ones quality wise in my experience.

If you go to a good e-cigarette forum (the best one in the industry is http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com), you will see that there are many different brands and pros and cons to each. That forum does not allow spamming and does a very good job of eliminating members who attempt to do so. The consensus there is that the Joye 510 and the DSE901 are the best two models out there, however.

I have tried a half dozen e-cigarettes over the past 8 months. The person here who stated that the Greensmoke is a good e-cigarette is absolutely right. Unfortunately, the starter kits and the resupplies for that brand of e-cigarette are triple the price of what a Joye 510 or a DSE901 is, so I wouldn't advise going that route.

The bluCig is an absolute piece of crud (forum rules prevent me from using other terminology) and the person recommending them has clearly never compared a bluCig to a decent e-cigarette. I have! You can tell they are only trying to make money off of you by the "affiliate" ID in the link that they have provided.

I smoked a pack-and-a-half of cigarettes a day for 25 years and smoked my last real cigarette more than 8 months ago after trying my first e-cigarette. It was a Joye 510 and I paid way too much for it ($100). Although I have found places online that sell them for less than half that price, I don't regret it. I no longer wake up every morning hacking up half a lung and I don't miss my Marlboros at all!

It is pretty difficult to "overdose" on nicotine. I would suggest starting with a "very high" nicotine strength e-liquid (24mg) and then gradually decreasing the nicotine content in the cigarette if that is a concern of yours. The nicotine is not what kills you - it is the 4,000+ chemicals and cancerous substances present when burning tobacco that cause the problem. Nicotine is simply what keeps you "hooked." I am now "vaping" 11mg nicotine content in my e-liquid and don't know if I'll ever go any lower. There are a lot of positive effects of nicotine that aren't widely publicized and I feel comfortable with the level I am using now.

I laughed when I read "I quit cold turkey once, but started smoking again in a week" only because I can say that I "quit" probably 50 times for a week or more before I finally discovered e-cigarettes and actually stayed quit. The key is to not have a pack of cigarettes around so that the only thing you can "smoke" is your e-cigarette. After a day or two, you won't miss the real cigarettes at all and you'll get to experience the fun of trying out different flavors every month.

I can't decide which is better - my Joye 510 or my DSE901 - and I use them both every day. For me smoking cigarettes is an addiction, an obsession. I have smoked most of my adult life. Sure-I quit several times-10 years being the longest period of abstinence. So if I could make it that long-what happened?

I am somewhat new to smoking, having only done it about 20 times, and quite enjoy it. Yesterday, when I was smoking with some teenage girls, one of them comented that I looked odd doing it, and asked how i was meant to smoke, and was told i was meant to hold the smoke in my lungs longer. When I asked how long, I was told "as long as you can". I was also told I was meant to suck more on the cigarette.

I know of two people who tried them. I know one bought it online. Both didn't like them at all and said they were a waste of money.

May I add, that the best way to quit is cold turkey. Chew Nicorette gum for the first few days (if you need to) and then it really is easy, as long as you have the WILL to quit.
I see pregnant women every day find out they're pregnant, and they quit immediately. No problem! It's mind over matter.
